Thursday, September 27th

Meggie -- I went to school today (true!).  I played with my brothers.
Max -- Meggie said Hi to me at school today.
Nik -- I did a magic show for Meggie.
Julian -- Tomorrow is picture day.
Claire -- I left my laptop at home today.  It is very much not a good idea to leave your computer at home.
Mark -- I asked for more responsiblity at work, but no additional work.


After this Meggie sat in my lap, took the pencil and the piece of paper, and asked everyone again what their news was.  She then "wrote" it down on the bottom.

Sunday, September 23rd

Meggie -- I got up and Daddy and Max were sleeping.  Mommy was awake.
Max -- NOTHING
Nik -- Today we saw a snake.
Julian -- Today I learned that we live near Lake Acotink and that Alexandria is only 30 minutes away.
Claire -- Today I tried to recover from jetlag with varying levels of success.
Mark -- I moved a tree out of the window well and signed Nik up for piano lessons.

Thursday, September 13th

Meggie -- I went to school (true!).  I go to Joanna's house.  I go in the basement with Daddy.  I need to get my kitchen.  I'm bigger, bigger, bigger!
Max -- Mommy took me to school today.
Nik -- I played in the pool with Max.
Julian -- Today in band we got our rankings.  I am in Bruin Band.
Claire -- Today was the first day of preschool for Meggie.  I got to meet Max's teacher, since I was there when his school day started.  I got a picture of him with his poster.  Then NannyJo and I took Meggie to her class.  She was very excited to play in the kitchen.  She got a little worried when I stepped out of the room, but when I came back in I talked to her about how she was going to stay at school by herself.  A few minutes later we said goodbye and I left and she did just fine.  No tears from anyone.  Not even from me!
Mark -- I fixed the fence.  Yay!

Wednesday, September 12th

Meggie -- I took Max to school.  I dropped Max off.  I practiced.  I did not have school today.  I went to NannyJo's.
Max -- NOTHING!
Nik -- I tried to burn leaves with a magnifying glass.  It made a hole and smoke.
Julian -- In 7th period we turned in our assignments.  And then our counselor came in and introduced himself.  Then the teacher gave us 4 papers but only 1 was homework.
Claire -- I had breakfast with Patty and only Patty this morning.  It was very nice to get to have breakfast with her.
Mark -- The kids pretended they were in a marching band today and went up and down the sidewalk.

Tueseday, September 11th

Meggie -- I dropped Max off, we went to Harris Teeter, we went to the park, I stayed wtih NannyJo.  I practiced going to school but I did NOT go to school today.  Just practice.  No school today.  Not go to school today.  It is not time. (she's right, Thursday is her first day)
Max -- I played on the iPad.  I wetn to school and played, then I went home for lunch and a nap.  The End.
Nik -- I had a great day because I got to swim and then take a bath.
Julian -- Me and Cole sat next to each other from 2nd period all the way to 6th period.
Claire -- I was home sick.  I still don't feel great but I hope to be better tomorrow.
Mark -- Max and Meggie and Nik and Julian were all having snacks at the table.  Max was eating Meggie's cereal leftover from this morning. Meggie was having a cookie, but Max didn't get a cookie because he was eating the leftover cereal. So Meggie had her cookie and was happy.  Max asked for a cookie but I said no because Max wasn't done.  Meggie was so excited and was touching her finger to mine and doing the "ning ning."  Meggie was so excited to get to be first and to have a chance to have something that Max wasn't having. She felt very special.

Monday, September 10th

Meggie -- Today I played on NannyJo's iPad.  I played a cookie game.
Max -- I helped NannyJo get more numbers open.  I went to my school today.
Nik -- I went to Mrs. Webb's house in the afternoon and I had fun.
Julian -- I went with my friends to the field.
Claire -- I had a lot of meetings but it was still a pretty good day.
Mark -- Boogers are green.

Friday, September 7th

Meggie -- I went to Costco.  I went to Harris Teeter.  I practiced.  I went to school today.  I went to NannyJo's house.
Max -- I played on NannyJo's iPad.
Nik -- I swam in the pool today.
Julian -- I went swimming and it is Friday.  And for half of drama we did yoga not drama.
Claire -- I had a really good lunch of spaghetti and meatballs.
Mark -- I decided not to go and see Gabriel Iglasias.

Thursday, September 6th

Meggie -- I went to school today.  I went to sleep at NannyJo's.
Max -- I played on NannyJo's iPad but then I had to take a break.
Nik -- I played with Alex and Abby.
Julian -- I had homework.  I was super effective (and did 2x the damage).
Claire -- My well-baby visit went just fine and the baby is doing well.
Mark -- I got a free lunch

Wednesday, September 5th

Meggie -- I went to Joanna's.  I played with toys.
Max -- I went to the store with books.  They had a train.  And also Angry Birds.
Nik -- We learned strategies to help with math.
Julian -- When I went to the orthodontist I thought I had one bracket loose but I actually had 3 that were loose.  At school we had an "even" day.  At lunch I was second in line so I got to get my lunch fast.
Claire -- I had a bad day and I am glad it is over.  Tomorrow will be better.
Mark -- Julian's gift cards are still good.
Julian -- I am going to buy the new Olympians book when it comes out in October.

First Day of School

The first day of school for Julian and Nik went well.  So well that they came home from school, got into the pool, and stayed there until after 7pm. So we did not have a family dinner.  Instead everyone just ate at different times.  Meggie didn't swim for long because the bugs were biting her.  Max stayed out a little longer but then came in and ate.  Mark was eating as I got home from work around 6.30.  So we had no Evening News.  We should be back on track tonight with family dinner.  But the first day went well.  Today is Julian's first day with the second half of his schedule (he's got blocks, so on the first day of school he went to his 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 7th period classes.  Today he will do 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 6th period classes.  They do 3rd period every day and lunch happens during that class).  So after today he should have a better idea of what his classes are going to be like.

Saturday, September 1

Meggie - I went to school today (this is not true).
Max - I played with Julian. We went swimming.
Nik - I cleaned my room and sorted my clothes.  And I went swimming.  And I helped with making dinner.
Julian - I played with Nik, Max, and Meggie.  I went swimming.  And Daddy fixed my computer.
Claire - I prepared for International Day of Laziness by cleaning, running errands, and making a Roast Dinner.
Mark - I mowed the lawn and did the laundry.  It was a special day for me (this is not true).

Friday, August 31

Meggie - I went to Joanna's.
Max - I played on Joanna's iPad.  I played some cool games.
Nik - I got babysat by Olivia and we played Hocus Focus and I learned tricks.
Julian - I went to Open House and we practiced school.
Meggie - I practice school too!
Julian - Also there is a pink angry bird.
Claire - I went to Open House with Julian and got to see his school and meet all his teachers.
Mark - First Costco trip with Julian and Nik.  Yay!
